<i>Objective:</i> To assess cognitive levels in an elderly Sicilian population and to evaluate the role of education and other sociodemographic characteristics in cognitive performance. <i>Background:</i> The pattern of cognitive performance in the elderly has not been investigated extensively in well-defined Italian populations.
